Color Sealer can be applied to grout lines of interior or exterior ceramic or porcelain tile. It can also be applied to grout lines of natural stone tile as long as the stone itself has already been sealed. Quality Color Sealers repel oil and water based liquids, which will prevent food and beverage stains. In addition, they contain constant acting mildewcides and other agents that inhibit the growth of bacteria and mildew. This not only offers health benefits by making floors more sanitary but it can reduce or eliminate smells that you often find with older floors. Color Sealed floors are also easier to maintain.
When you have areas where only some of the grout needs to be replaced, it is impossible to match the color of the new grout to the older grout. Even if you use the identical product and color, aging and wear will make the difference very noticeable. Color sealing however, will provide a consistent look across the board making all of the grout look new again. Another added plus is the color seal can change your grout to any color you choose. You can even change a dark shade to a light one. Please see before and after picture BELOW where we took a dark grout and turned it into a lighter one.
So what is the Color Seal process? Color Sealing can be applied in a few basic steps. First the tile and grout must be professionally cleaned, neutralized and allowed to dry completely. Next the color seal is applied and allowed to penetrate the grout, any excess sealer is to be removed and floor surface must dry again. Lastly the tile is cleaned and buffed. Grout will need at least 30 minutes after application to be ready for regular use.
